Airpay Payment Gateway: Update Alert - Optimised Payment Gateway Integration Guide

Update Alert - Optimised Payment Gateway Integration Guide

If you're a semi-technical online business owner, you know the challenges of evaluating and integrating various products/services on the market to expand your product line or streamline your day-to-day operations. For technical developers, the task is even more daunting, as you need to delve into almost every detail of the new product you are trying to integrate, navigate between different APIs, and ultimately test it. Developing a payment gateway is no exception!

At PayUmoney, we receive around 6,000 to 8,000 enquiries per week from the above mentioned stakeholders who seek help in the payment gateway integration process.PayUmoney's updated and optimised Payment Gateway Integration Guide is designed to help them ease through the integration process. Let's find out where the guide has been improved:

Overview and reference section

Each product listed in the PayUmoney Developer Guide is now divided into two sections. The overview section provides startup founders with an overall product overview, while the reference section provides detailed integration references for developers integrating with us.

From the first feedback we received, this division of content helped our merchants, especially non-technical founders, to not get lost in the technical details and to quickly assess us. Developers were also able to first get an overview of the product and then dive into technical integration references.

Clear API Documentation

API documentation must be accurate, clear and well presented. The latest trend in API documentation is to design documentation in three panels. Therefore, we redesigned our API documentation using ReDoc - a powerful tool that helps us describe our APIs according to the OpenAPI specification.

Here, the left panel contains a reference menu for scrolling synchronisation. The middle panel contains endpoint/method documentation. The right panel contains various examples: request examples, response examples and code examples.

We are now able to clearly document complex request/response loads. Nested schemas are now displayed gracefully with expand and collapse functionality. All of this without sacrificing accuracy, as the documentation is generated directly from the source code.

Downloadable Integration Kit

The purpose of developer documentation is to make integrations as seamless as possible. How much easier could it be to test a sample integration if all you had to do was download an integration kit, host it on your local machine and hit pay?

The suite handles request generation and response processing for you. All you need to do is:

Associate the request with an order in your system

Update the response status of orders in the system

Apply CSS to match the pre-checkout page design with your website theme

Improvements

After all, the value of a developer guide depends on its content. If the content isn't up to scratch, even if it's feature-rich, it doesn't matter. This is where we put the most effort. We carefully analysed the support work orders we received and made improvements in areas where we realised merchants/developers were struggling to self-serve.

For example, we've had feedback from some developers who previously had to spend a lot of time trying to figure out simple errors due to SDK misconfiguration. As a result, we now include configuration steps and screenshots for each step, which has already paid off in terms of integration time reduction. Similarly, installation and configuration steps for iOS SDKs, plugins, etc. have been added.

Another challenge for merchant developers and designers is determining the payment integration process, as many of them don't fully understand how online payments work. The activity diagram for the checkout product aims to address this issue.
