# Secure Digital Payments: How we're securing the mobile banking experience |
With the rapid shift to digital payments, this form of payment is favoured for its simplicity, security and ease of transferring money across accounts. For merchants, the acceptance of digital forms of payment has also increased significantly. Not only are they accepting digital payments, they are also digitising multiple aspects of their business. Digitisation is helping merchants advance in credit, invoicing, ledger/account management, bookkeeping and more, driving further business growth. We offer consumers and merchants a new generation of digital banking services that allow them to take full advantage of these services while ensuring their security and peace of mind. We offer a wide range of products to our users such as savings accounts, debit and ATM cards, Paytm wallets and more. However, with the increase in cybercrime cases across the globe, users also need to take the necessary steps to avoid falling victim to fraudsters. Here are some product-specific security tips that our users can follow.
Savings Accounts : You should not share your PIN, pass code, M-PIN, PIN, CVV or OTP with anyone, even if they claim to represent any bank, even Paytm Payments Bank. You can sign up for instant alerts (SMS and emails) to keep tabs on your bank account transactions and keep a close eye on your bank statements to spot any anomalies. Also, be wary of transactions that seem "too good to be true", which may ask you to provide account details for verification or send free gifts, bonuses, etc. Don't allow your bank account to be used by others to receive and transfer funds in exchange for attractive commissions or out of goodwill.
Debit Cards : Do not share your card number, CVV, card expiry date, ATM PIN or any OTP with anyone, even if they cite emergency reasons like card expiry. Do not write down your 4-digit ATM PIN anywhere, including the card itself, but memorise it. If you notice anything unusual at the ATM (e.g., the keypad or card reader slot appears too thick or appears to have been added later), cancel the transaction and leave the ATM.
Paytm Wallet : Do not share your password, pass code or any OTP with anyone, even if they cite wallet activation, reactivation, limit upgrade, KYC, free cashback and other urgent reasons. Remember, we never ask for such information. Send money only to people you know. Before initiating a transfer, carefully verify the recipient's information. You should set a strong and unique password and protect your phone with a PIN or pattern lock. If you feel your wallet password has been compromised, change it immediately.
Internet Banking: Do not share your passwords, pass codes, M-PINs, PINs, CVVs or OTPs with anyone. Always use a secure browser connection (https://) when entering personal and financial information.
More security tips: protect your PAN, Aadhar and other KYC details to know how the company, website or mobile app uses your information. Always date and use your KYC copies and cross out redundant information. Destroy any extraneous paper with your identity or financial information (e.g. photocopies, photographs, bills, payslips) that could be used to impersonate you.
How to report fraud: If you have been a victim of a fraudster, you can come to us and report it. To report any fraudulent transaction on your bank account or wallet, you can contact us through our helpdesk or 24-hour support on the Paytm app. Our IVR helpdesk number is 1800120130 and to contact our 24-hour customer support, you can call 0120-4456-456.
Preventing Cybercrime: With the increase in mobile payments and banking services, cybercrime cases are also on the rise.
