How to create a UPI ID

To create a UPI ID, you can follow the steps below:

Register your bank account and mobile number using UPI-enabled apps (e.g. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Mobikwik, etc.). This registration process can be done using any UPI-enabled banking app or Bharath Interface for Money (BHIM) app.

Creating UPI IDs in BHIM Applications

Download the BHIM application or any other application that accepts UPI When using the BHIM application, after selecting your preferred language and "accepting" the various prompts, you will receive a request to "verify your mobile phone number". Once the verification process is complete, you will be asked to select your preferred bank name. The application will automatically receive the bank name, IFSC code and account number details. If you have multiple accounts added to the same mobile number, you can select the desired account to link to the app. You have to set UPI ID and 4 or 6 digit PIN to secure all your transactions.

Registration through the *99# service

Dial "*99#" from your mobile phone. Select your preferred language Enter your bank name or the first 4 digits of your IFSC code. Select your bank account Enter the last 6 digits of your debit card and expiry date Enter and set your UPI PIN code Confirm your UPI PIN code and you're ready to go!

How to find UPI ID

How to transfer money using UPI ID

Users are required to provide the payee's bank account number, branch address, bank name and IFSC in order to transfer money between accounts in the traditional way. Providing these facts each time can be cumbersome. By using UPI ID, you can simplify the funds transfer process.

With just a mobile phone, you can follow the steps below to send money using your UPI ID:

Dial *99# and enter "1" to access the option to send money to another person. By providing your mobile phone number, UPI ID, select the stored payee or account number and IFSC code, enter the number that corresponds to the method you want to use and press the "Send" button. Enter the recipient's UPI ID and press 'Send' to add the amount you want to transfer to their account using UPI on the following screen. Add a comment if you wish; otherwise, enter "1" to skip and to begin the transaction, enter your UPI PIN when the following pop-up window opens. Now that you have successfully sent the funds to the payee without using the Internet, you will receive a confirmation notification.
