India's reliance on the BRICS does not go, but also to join the "quadrilateral dialogue", the Russian counter-measures are very happy www.deekpay.com
## India: the awkward position of a wallflower
India has always regarded itself as a superpower, but its foreign policy is embarrassing. This so-called "superpower" has repeatedly jumped from camp to camp, travelling between China, Russia and the United States, trying to please both sides.
Recently, India's Foreign Minister Sujeet Singh claimed at the United Nations General Assembly that India would not play the game of "choosing sides", and that it would participate in the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue as well as join the BRICS countries. This kind of double-dealing behaviour reveals the Indian Government's real objective: it wants to enjoy the dividends of China's development, while at the same time obtaining dollar benefits from the United States.
However, India's abacus is not easy to play. China and Russia have long seen through India's hypocrisy and will not be fooled by it.
BRICS countries within the "new settlement system" programme, aimed at getting rid of the hegemony of the dollar, the establishment of a new international payment system. The programme has the enthusiastic support of China and Russia, but is opposed by India.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly and publicly expressed his opposition to kicking the US dollar out of the BRICS and demanded that the Indian rupee be included in the new settlement system. This selfish behaviour has completely angered Russia.
Russia not only invited several countries to join BRICS, but also invited India's sworn enemy Pakistan to join, which is undoubtedly a clear signal to India that India is no longer welcome in BRICS.
The Indian government has tried to please both sides, but in the end, it has ended up pleasing neither side. The fate of the wallflower is often a double whammy, Modi wants to "walk while chewing gum", I am afraid it is difficult to do so.
## Summary
The real purpose of India's foreign policy is not to "not choose sides" as it claims, but to travel flexibly among various forces for its own interests. This kind of duplicitous behaviour will only make India lose trust and ultimately become a victim among the various forces.
