**Fraud Alert: Be wary of AnyDesk app usage**

In recent months, fraudsters have been using remote access applications such as AnyDesk, TeamViewer, QuickSupport, and others to commit fraud and deceive gullible consumers. How does the scam work? Scammers lure victims into downloading apps such as AnyDesk under various pretexts - such as "your account needs to be authenticated or it will be frozen". Hackers gain remote access through a nine-digit code generated on the victim's device. Once the fraudster enters this app code on their own device, they ask the victim to grant certain permissions that are similar to those required for other apps to be used. This allows the fraudster to access the victim's device and conduct transactions through any mobile banking app or payment-related app, including UPI or wallets.

What can you do to protect yourself? Ignore any calls or messages that ask you to download apps, share your code or OTP, or threaten you to behave in a certain way. Always verify the apps you download and review the permissions granted to apps. By having a deeper understanding of the apps you use and the actions they can perform with the right set of permissions, you can protect yourself and your family from such scams.
