Please be alert to fraudulent SMS and calls regarding account suspension, account freeze or fake rewards! --Paytm Payments Bank Blog:- www.deekpay.com
Recently, some unscrupulous people have been using SMS or phone calls for fraudulent purposes and you are reminded to be vigilant. If you receive any text messages or phone calls asking you to download an app to complete your identity verification (KYC), do not trust these messages - these are attempts by fraudsters to gain access to your personal information. In the last few months, scammers have adopted new tactics. Posing as Paytm staff, they claim that "we are reactivating KYC for you" and then ask customers to install apps such as AnyDesk, TeamViewer, QuickSupport, etc., granting them certain permissions. Once installed, it usually generates a 9-digit address code which, when shared, may allow other users to access your device remotely.
Once the fraudsters have remote control of your device, they will be able to access all your mobile banking apps and make transactions through your accounts, including UPI and wallet. If you receive a contact like "Your KYC has been completed, now to get cashback or offers, you will receive an SMS with a link, click on the link to avail the offer", make sure you don't click on these links and delete these SMSes. At Paytm, we never send offers with links via SMS and no Paytm employee will ever do so. Your cashback will be deposited directly into your wallet or bank account.
Please note! Your Paytm KYC can only be done at an authorised KYC point or at the time of visit by a Paytm representative. Also, Paytm cashback will only be credited to your Paytm wallet or bank account.
