Please be aware that fraudsters may use KYC suspension, account expiry or account freeze as a scam. Recently, there have been several cases of such frauds. Today, we would like to share some important information with you.

If you receive any SMS claiming that your Paytm KYC has expired and needs to be renewed or that your account will be frozen within 24 hours, do not believe such SMS or calls. If anyone calls you and asks you to download apps like QuickSupport, Anydesk etc. to complete KYC or renew your account, do not do so. By sending such messages, these fraudsters may steal your account details and steal funds from your Paytm account.

These scammers target people through SMS by sending messages like "Your Paytm account will be frozen or KYC will expire, please call the number on the SMS". They try to lure innocent people in this way.

You need to be vigilant as they will first pretend to be Paytm customer care agents. Once you trust them, they will ask you to reactivate/renew your KYC and ask you to install apps like AnyDesk, TeamViewer, QuickSupport, etc. The installation of these apps usually generates a 9-digit address code, which when shared, allows the fraudster to view your device screen remotely.

Now, these fraudsters can view your screen including all your mobile banking apps, Paytm apps and even your private photos and videos. Worst of all, they can also make UPI and wallet transactions remotely.

Due to new security features in our app, fraudsters may ask you to open Paytm.com on your mobile browser so that they can clearly see your password. Once they get your password, they can immediately open your account on their device (they don't need to ask you for an OTP as they can read the password directly from the device screen). Once the password is in hand, the fraudulent transaction may begin.

Therefore, you need to be vigilant. Please avoid performing any of the above actions. Do not download any such applications. Do not follow any caller's instructions to log in to a payment application or do anything that would allow them to see your screen.

Moreover, these fraudsters may create fake websites very similar to Paytm's website in order to obtain passwords and OTPs so that they can log in to your account and carry out fraudulent transactions. Some such websites include:

- jn29832.ngrok.io/index.php etc.

Scammers may send links to such websites via WhatsApp or SMS. Most of these websites do not have a "secure" padlock symbol (do not use the HTTPS security protocol, which is used by all trusted platforms and websites today).

On these sites, fraudsters may ask you to enter your password, OTP and card number or CVV and ask for the transaction OTP.Once you enter all this information, fraudsters will get access to them and can easily make fraudulent transactions on your account or card.

Do you know how many such websites and URLs fraudsters can create? But what's even more surprising is that the way to avoid these scammers is very simple... You should always remember that Paytm will never ask you to enter any details or password on any website other than Paytm.com.

Please note: Never enter your credit/debit card number, Paytm PIN, OTP or your card CVV number on any suspicious URL link sent on any website or SMS.

Here are some things you should always keep in mind:

1. Paytm's complete KYC can only be done face-to-face with our agents at our authorised KYC points.

2. Neither Paytm nor anyone associated with Paytm will require you to download any application to complete KYC, renew KYC or unlock your account.

3. Your cashback will be deposited directly into your Paytm wallet or bank account.

4. To get information on new offers, please check directly in the Cashback and Offers section of the Paytm app.

5. Paytm employees/agents will never ask for your PIN, OTP, password, password reset link, debit/credit card CVV or PIN or bank details.

6. When a Paytm agent comes to complete KYC for you, check their ID.

7. Paytm employees/agents will never ask you to enter your PIN, Card CVV or OTP on any URL other than Paytm.com.

8. Paytm will never ask you to pay registration fees or taxes in order to claim prizes, tickets or offers.

Please avoid such scams. Stay alert! Stay safe!
