On 10 October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 21st India-ASEAN Summit. After the summit, the two sides issued a statement announcing their intention to explore cross-border co-operation between India and ASEAN payment systems through digital solutions. India will share its knowledge and experience with its ASEAN counterparts in the area of digital public infrastructure, such as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The two sides also plan to explore cooperation in addressing challenges in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture and climate change.

India and ASEAN countries agreed to explore partnerships between national fintech innovation institutions and support digital solutions, including digital finance. The two sides expressed their commitment to expanding cybersecurity cooperation, supporting the development of the digital economy, and collaborating to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, infrastructure, risk management frameworks and policies. The collaboration aims to harness the potential of AI through the effective and responsible use of AI technologies and applications.
